Job Title: SysOps Engineer II

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SysOps Engineer II with a strong focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in system operations, cloud infrastructure, and automation. You will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing our AWS environments to ensure reliability, security, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

AWS Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructures using services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and IAM.
  • Implement best practices for cloud architecture and resource optimization.

System Operations:

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches on servers and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a timely manner.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate deployments.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Manage AWS security groups, network access control lists (ACLs), and IAM roles.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with development and engineering teams to support application deployments and updates.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in system operations with a focus on AWS services.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with automation tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.).

Certifications (Preferred):

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
